4. Activate e-visa upon entry
When entering Hong Kong by high-speed train or plane, present the e-visa QR code at the manual counter (either visitor or Hong Kong resident channel is acceptable) to explain the high talent entry and manually activate the e-visa! This will start the calculation of the "two years" validity period for high talent. A stay "white slip" will be issued, which must be kept safe! It will be needed for later processing of the identity card.

5. Apply for identity card at the Immigration Department
There are 6 locations for first-time identity card applications: Wan Chai, Cheung Sha Wan, Kwun Tong, Fo Tan, Tuen Mun, Yuen Long (detailed addresses can be found on the official website)
Taking Cheung Sha Wan Immigration Department (200 meters walk from Sham Shui Po C1 exit) as an example, it is the closest to the city center, with a short walking distance and a relatively high number of tokens issued.
Arriving at Cheung Sha Wan Immigration Department at 7 AM (opens at 9 AM) already has a long queue! At around 8 AM, staff started distributing tokens, with a total of 150-160 tokens issued that day.
It is recommended to arrive early in the afternoon (up to 1 hour in advance!), because after entering the processing hall with the token, you still need to go to the counter to get a number! Waiting for the number to be called, a token from 2 PM may only be called for processing at 4:30 PM! Verify information, take a photo for the ID on-site, and it will take about 10 minutes to complete the process. You will receive a "temporary identity card paper" and a "receipt for document collection" and be informed of the collection time.

6. Collect documents
After 7-10 working days, you need to collect it in person or authorize a Hong Kong friend to collect it on your behalf! You need to provide an authorization letter for collection, fill it out and leave it for your friend, and on the day of collection, the person collecting must bring their own ID.

If friends who have received approval for high talent need to go to Hong Kong in a short time, do not forget to apply for a temporary identity card. This is the most important identity document you have in Hong Kong before obtaining permanent residency, and it is also the beginning of your future work.
