Project introduction:The Hong Kong Technology Talent Scheme aims to provide eligible companies with a fast-track arrangement to apply for non-local technology talent to work in research and development in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China. Eligible companies must first apply for a quota, and companies that receive a quota from the Innovation and Technology Commission can apply for work visas/entry permits for eligible personnel within a period of12 months of the quota's validity. The tax rate in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is among the lowest in the world, with a simple tax system that does not include business tax, sales tax, value-added tax, gift tax, or capital gains tax; only income earned in Hong Kong is taxable. Any income earned in Hong Kong from employment, hiring, or retirement is subject to salaries tax, which is calculated progressively after deductions and allowances, with the maximum tax payable not exceeding the income from employment minus allowable deductions and charitable donations (excluding personal allowances), calculated at a standard tax rate of 15%.
