Social Welfare Benefits for Hong Kong Residents in Mainland China

1. Cross-regional dispatch for household registration
This applies to those who want to obtain a household registration in a mainland city. As long as they are overseas students who have obtained a bachelor's degree or above in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, or abroad, they meet the application requirements. Studying in Hong Kong not only provides identity but also offers a shortcut for household registration in mainland cities, allowing for flexible development in both places in the future.
2. Elderly living allowance
According to the "Guangdong Plan" and "Fujian Plan" implemented by the Hong Kong government, elderly residents with Hong Kong household registration can enjoy the elderly living allowance issued by the Hong Kong government while living in Guangdong and Fujian provinces without the need to return to Hong Kong every year.
Elderly individuals aged 65 or above who meet the income and asset requirements can apply for a monthly living allowance of 2675 HKD or 3585 HKD (most people can meet the requirements). Those aged 70 and above can additionally receive a senior allowance of 1385 HKD/month.
In other words, a 70-year-old Hong Kong resident living in Guangdong or Fujian can receive = mainland retirement pension + 2675/3585 HKD (living allowance) + 1385 HKD (senior allowance) per month.
3. Housing provident fund contributions for Hong Kong and Macau residents (nationwide)
Individuals with Hong Kong identity working in the mainland are required to contribute to the housing provident fund according to relevant policy regulations, and they can enjoy the same treatment as mainland residents in terms of contribution base, contribution ratio, processing procedures, and withdrawal of personal housing provident fund, as well as applying for personal housing loans from the housing provident fund.
4. Housing rental subsidies
Many cities in the mainland have introduced a series of welfare policies aimed at international students (including those from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan) to retain talent, such as housing rental subsidies. Below are just a few examples of cities:
Shenzhen:Living subsidies of 15,000 HKD/person for undergraduates, 25,000 HKD/person for master's degree holders, and 30,000 HKD/person for doctoral degree holders. Local household registration can be processed. Applications can be made to rent government-provided affordable housing and student apartments.
Beijing:Household registration and provision of short-term transitional housing.
Changsha:Apply for "Rental and living subsidies for returned overseas students" at the standard of 50,000 HKD/person/year for doctoral degree holders, 10,000 HKD/person/year for master's degree holders, and 6,000 HKD/person/year for bachelor's degree holders, with a distribution period of two years.
