Do you know that the Hong Kong Quality Migrant Admission Scheme allows for the application of dependents?

The full name of the "Hong Kong Quality Migrant Admission Scheme" is "Quality Migrant Admission Scheme". It is a quota-based immigration program aimed at attracting high-skilled talents or outstanding individuals to settle in Hong Kong, thereby enhancing Hong Kong's competitiveness.

Key point!!! Did you know that the Hong Kong Quality Migrant Admission Scheme allows you to apply for dependents?

Applicants for the Hong Kong Quality Migrant Admission Scheme can submit applications for their dependents at the same time. Once the applicant's application is approved by the Hong Kong SAR government, the applicant becomes the "guarantor" for the dependent. The "guarantor" must ensure that they can maintain the dependent's living needs during their stay in Hong Kong, and the dependent's application to stay in Hong Kong will also be approved together with the applicant's.

What is the scope of dependents?

According to the current dependent policy in Hong Kong, the scope of dependents includes:

· The applicant's spouse (the spouse includes the applicant's same-sex civil partner relationship, same-sex civil union, "same-sex marriage", opposite-sex civil partner relationship, or the other party of opposite-sex civil union, provided that this status is legally recognized by local authorities).

· Unmarried and dependent children under 18 years old.

What are the considerations for dependents applying together?

When the applicant submits an application for dependents to stay in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong SAR government will consider the following factors comprehensively to determine whether to grant entry to the dependents:

Whether the applicant can provide reasonable proof of their relationship with the dependent;

· Whether the applicant has any known adverse records;

· Whether the applicant, as the guarantor, can maintain the dependent's living conditions in Hong Kong above a basic level and provide appropriate accommodation for the dependent.

As long as the applicant successfully obtains approval to come to Hong Kong under the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, the dependents accompanying them will not be restricted from working in Hong Kong. This means that although the applicant, as the "guarantor", needs to provide basic support for the dependent's living in Hong Kong, the dependent can also work in Hong Kong to earn income.

What documents do dependents need to provide?

1.Copy of the Hong Kong-Macau travel permit.

2.Copy of the identity card.

3.Copy of the latest household registration book.

4.Copy of the birth medical certificate for children under 18.

If it involves divorced children, non-marital children, and adopted children, the required documents will also differ. For specific documents, you can leave a message to consult Hong Kong Happy Life, and we will design a personalized document checklist for you to ensure that the dependent successfully obtains their status.

In addition, Hong Kong Happy Life would like to kindly remind all applicants that if the dependent does not renew their visa in time, they can actually reapply for residency in Hong Kong. Generally, the Immigration Department will process the application within 6 weeks. Of course, if the dependent is a child, they still need to be under 18 years old and meet the following conditions:

1.Can provide reasonable proof of relationship (such as birth medical certificate, household registration book, etc.);

2.The applicant has no adverse records;

3.The main applicant can maintain the dependent's living conditions in Hong Kong above a basic level and provide appropriate accommodation for them.

The dependent's visa duration in Hong Kong is completely consistent with that of the applicant. When the applicant subsequently applies for a visa extension, they can also apply for the dependent's visa extension at the same time.

The Hong Kong Quality Migrant Admission Scheme allows applicants to apply for dependents to accompany them to Hong Kong, providing great convenience for applicants considering family immigration to Hong Kong. After the dependents arrive in Hong Kong, they can fully apply for the Hong Kong resident living certificate according to the relevant regulations of the Hong Kong SAR government, and they enjoy the same major social welfare benefits as local residents in Hong Kong.
