After living in Hong Kong for many years, I finally obtained permanent residency! What are the benefits of this change?

①In fact, the most convenient thing is that the Hong Kong passport allows visa-free access to 168 countries, such as Japan, Europe, and Australia, where you can stay for 90 days each time you enter. For someone like me who enjoys experiencing the lives of different countries, this is perfect. After the pandemic, I can buy discounted tickets and go whenever I want. In comparison, while it is relatively easy to apply for foreign tourist visas in Hong Kong with a Chinese passport, there are still requirements regarding work and bank statements.
②You don't have to worry about renewing your visa every few years; you can be a freelancer, start a business, work or study abroad, etc. Otherwise, if you want to maintain your Hong Kong identity, you need to stay in Hong Kong for work or find an agent to renew your visa each time, which incurs higher costs and opportunity costs.
④Hong Kong permanent residents can purchase property in the Greater Bay Area without residency and social security restrictions. Currently, Shenzhen has started to strictly investigate companies that only pay social security without actual work, which may tighten in the future.
⑤Permanent residents can purchase property in Hong Kong with a 30% tax exemption (currently, the minimum down payment for Hong Kong property is 10%, which is a good opportunity to get on the property ladder). Additionally, they can enjoy benefits such as public housing and subsidized housing, and elderly individuals can receive monthly subsidies (equivalent to having a pension insurance; although the amount is not high, the difference from social security is that this subsidy is unrelated to previous employment, and everyone receives the same amount).
⑥Moreover, non-permanent residents can also enjoy benefits: low tax rates; free public healthcare; children can directly settle in Hong Kong and become Hong Kong residents, enjoying 15 years of free public education, and can participate in the joint examination for overseas Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, escaping the competition, with a score of 400 to enter a top university in mainland China.
