Data statistics show that after a significant decline following the financial crisis, housing prices in Greece remained stable from 2009 to 2014. Then, at the beginning of 2015, there was a slight increase, followed by a rapid growth trend in 2018. In 2019, housing prices in Greece began to rise strongly, reaching the highest growth rate in 12 years!

Recently, Portugal and Spain have issued signals of changes in their real estate immigration policies, and Greece has not been spared. According to reports, the threshold for Greece's 250,000 euro real estate immigration will be raised, with the investment amount increasing from 250,000 euros to 500,000 euros, and there will also be restrictions on the areas where properties can be purchased! Transactions for properties in popular areas such as Athens and Santorini will be restricted. If the new policy is implemented, investors wishing to obtain permanent residency in Greece through property purchases will have to spend 500,000 euros to buy properties in economically underdeveloped remote areas.

Old Policy:As long as you buy a property in Greece for no less than 250,000 euros, there are no restrictions on the area.

New Policy:

1. The property investment amount is raised to 500,000 euros, which is a full doubling;

2. New policy: Transactions for properties in popular areas such as Athens and Santorini are restricted, and properties costing no less than 500,000 euros can only be invested in economically underdeveloped remote areas.

 The new policy is expected to be implemented in August 2020., most funds are still in the domestic applicants need to apply before March 15, 2020.

5. Pay off the property price, the lawyer assists in the property transfer, and the client cooperates in preparing immigration documents; (to be completed by June 30, 2020)

6. Property transfer is completed, and appointment for submission time;

7. Handle visa according to fingerprint recording time;

8. Obtain visa, purchase tickets, and book hotels; (to be completed by July 20, 2020)

9. Land in Greece to submit immigration documents and record fingerprints; (to be completed by July 31, 2020)

10. Return to China and wait for the issuance of the permanent residency card.

In the first quarter of 2019, housing prices increased by 5.3% year-on-year, rising to 7.7% in the second quarter. In 2018, the annual average growth rate of housing prices in the country was less than 2%.
