Exam Subjects

The DSE exam subjects are flexible, consisting of 4 compulsory subjects and 2-3 elective subjects, with the best 5 or best 6 subjects counted for university admission.

Compulsory 4 subjects:
Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics, Liberal Studies;

There are 21 elective subjects, from which 2-3 can be chosen for examination:
Chinese Literature, Biology, Business, Accounting and Finance Introduction, English Literature, Chemistry, Design and Applied Technology, Chinese History, Physics, Health Management and Social Care, Economics, Science: Combined Science, Information and Communication Technology, Ethics and Religion, Science: Integrated Science, Technology and Life, Geography, Music, History, Visual Arts, Tourism and Hospitality, Physical Education.

Scoring Mechanism

1.The DSE exam subjects consist of 4 core subjects plus 2-3 elective subjects, with university admission calculated based on the best 5 or best 6 subjects.

2.Scores are graded into five levels [1-5], with level 5 being the highest. Among those who achieve level 5, the best performers will receive [5**], followed by those with slightly lower performance indicated as [5*], and those scoring below level 1 will be marked as [Not Rated].

3.The DSE exam uses a grading system with levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5*, and 5**, where each level counts as 1 point, and the 5** level can count as 7 points, with a maximum score of 7 for each subject.
