If I can't pass the exam, what is the use of having a Hong Kong identity?

Many people have a misconception that obtaining Hong Kong identity is mainly for convenience in working and living in Hong Kong. In fact, many people choose to obtain Hong Kong identity through the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme because it facilitates their work and life in mainland China.

Especially since January 1, 2020, Hong Kong residents working, living, and studying in mainland China, as well as residents from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, have the same legal rights to participate in social insurance and enjoy social insurance benefits as mainland residents. The inconveniences previously faced by Hong Kong identity residents in mainland China have also disappeared. In addition, many Quality Migrant applicants are actually attracted by the following benefits.

1. Children attending international schools
After applying for the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, children can obtain Hong Kong identity as dependents. They can directly attend international schools in mainland China, eliminating the anxiety over securing a spot.

2. Visa convenience
After obtaining permanent residency in Hong Kong, one can apply for a Hong Kong SAR passport, which allows visa-free access to 168 countries and regions, making it very convenient, even comparable to a global passport!

3. Advantages in further education in mainland China
Children with Hong Kong nationality can directly enroll in 129 universities in mainland China (including prestigious institutions like Tsinghua, Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University) through the "Non-Examination Admission Program" based on their DSE exam results. Moreover, DSE results are recognized globally, so if they do not wish to study in China, they can also apply to overseas universities.

In addition, students with permanent residency in Hong Kong can also further their studies through the "Overseas Chinese Student Joint Examination," with a total score of 750 points (the exam difficulty is much lower than the mainland college entrance examination). The admission score line is: 400 points for first-tier universities, 300 points for second-tier universities, and 200 points for art students, making it easy to enroll in first-tier universities in mainland China.

4. Enjoy tax subsidies
Even if not working in Hong Kong, talents working in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area can enjoy over 15% personal income tax subsidies and various entrepreneurial support policies.

5. A stepping stone for overseas identity
For those who want to apply for overseas immigration, the threshold for directly immigrating to foreign countries is relatively high. If one first applies for Hong Kong identity, it becomes much easier to immigrate to countries like the United States, Canada, or Australia.
