1. First, you must meet the eligibility criteria for online application for visa extension.

Note:Individuals in the following situations are not allowed to apply online for an extension of stay according to the regulations of the Immigration Department:

·Individuals who are currently in Hong Kong as visitors;
·The current IANG visa's stay period exceeds 4 weeks before expiration;
·The current IANG visa's stay period has expired;
·Travel documents will expire within 3 months;
·Individuals who have been notified by the Immigration Department that their next extension of stay application will require review;
·Individuals currently staying in Hong Kong under the IANG visa arrangement but have not been employed by a Hong Kong company.

Therefore, if you want to apply for an IANG visa extension under the new measures without returning to Hong Kong to activate it, you need to pay attention to whether you fall into any of the above situations and whether you can submit an online application for remote extension. If not, you need to plan your time in advance.

2. Submit materials

Four weeks before the visa expires, but actually, it can be done in as little as 15 days. The required materials are the same as before, but three additional documents are needed.

a.Special explanation for not being able to return to Hong Kong.
b.A letter of authorization for a representative, to be submitted along with the original materials.
c.A letter of authorization for collection, with proof that the representative needs to present on-site.
 

3. There are two ways to submit the application: ·

a.Authorize a friend or relative in Hong Kong to handle it.
b.Mail it to the Immigration Department yourself.
c.If online application is not supported, you will have to go to Hong Kong to handle it.
