3 Overseas Chinese student joint examination

The difficulty of the joint examination is far lower than that of the ordinary college entrance examination in mainland China, with the average admission score being 150-200 points lower than that of the ordinary college entrance examination. A score of 400 points is sufficient to enter 985 and 211 universities, while 300 points is enough for second-tier universities, and 200 points for art majors. It does not occupy the admission quota of the ordinary college entrance examination, and the number of candidates each year is only over 4,000, making the competition very small.

4 Independent admissions
Many prestigious schools in mainland China have independent admission plans for students from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, such as Peking University's Bo Ya admissions. In 2020, Peking University launched the "Bo Ya Talent Cultivation Plan," aimed at accepting outstanding Hong Kong high school students who are "well-rounded, have outstanding academic performance, ambitious, possess development potential, and a strong sense of social responsibility." As long as the application conditions are met, they can apply without a written test.
