Family immigration
Those who meet the immigration conditions can entrust relatives or friends residing in Thailand to apply to the Thai Immigration Bureau; or the applicant can apply to the Thai Embassy in China with relevant documents. The documents to be submitted include: a photocopy of the ID card of the Thai relatives, proof of economic income or property status of the Thai relatives, especially proof of real estate such as housing, a certificate of relationship between the Thai relatives and the applicant, relevant letters from the Thai relatives, and the applicant's passport and photo.
2 Marriage immigration
Foreigners can obtain permanent residency by marrying a Thai citizen. In Thailand, as long as life is manageable, it is very easy to marry a Thai woman. Once married, you can apply for a marriage visa, which needs to be renewed annually. After two years, you can apply for a permanent residence permit. If the relationship is good, you can apply for Thai citizenship.
3 Skilled immigration
Foreign professionals or scholars can be granted long-term residence in Thailand under the following conditions: the profession of the professional or scholar is beneficial to Thailand; a minimum annual income of $10,000; must be at least 25 years old.
Applications for long-term residence are limited to professionals lacking in Thailand, and must be submitted by the employing organization to the Thai authorities.
Professionals or scholars who obtain residence permits can reside in Thailand indefinitely, and their family members (spouse, parents, and unmarried children under 21) can also obtain residence permits in Thailand. Any person who has obtained a residence permit and wishes to work in Thailand must apply for a work permit.
4 Foreign investors' investment projects must comply with the promoted investment projects.
The investment amount depends on the type of investment:
(1)For projects that meet the promotion of the Investment Board, the Investment Committee will not consider the details of the project, but will consider the scale of investment, the qualifications of the investor, and the equity structure (ordinary shares).
(2)Investment funds must be invested in the ordinary shares of a limited company established for the implementation of the investment project.
(3)Within 3 years of obtaining a residence permit, investors must comply with all investment regulations.
5 Work permit
Foreigners applying for work under the Thai Investment Promotion Act and other laws must submit their work permit application within 30 days of entering Thailand or within 30 days of being informed of the approval to work. Violators will be fined up to 1,000 baht.
Foreigners who need to work in Thailand, regardless of whether they have residence rights in Thailand, must apply for a work permit in advance. Otherwise, they will be sentenced to imprisonment for up to 3 months and fined up to 5,000 baht.
6 Retirement visa
This is a very popular type of visa in Thailand, which requires applicants to be at least 50 years old. The retirement visa is valid for one year and can be renewed annually. The new policy in 2017 allows for a five-year validity period at once. A deposit of 800,000 baht in a Thai bank is required.
